1961: Member of Our Lady of Grace Monastery, Beech Grove, Indiana.
1965-1969: Elementary school teacher, St. Barnabas Catholic School,
Indianapolis.
1969-1983: Administrator, Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis in
catechetics.
1984: Administrator Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Louisville in catechetics.
1985-1993: Prioress, Our Lady of Grace Monastery, Beech Grove, Indiana.
1994-2004: Executive Director, Monastic Interreligious Dialogue (MID) Board.
Coordinated the Gethsemani Encounter (1996), Gethsemani Encounter II (2002),
Benedict’s Dharma Conference (2001 and 2003). Coordinated the first Nuns of the
West gathering in Los Angeles Shi Lai Temple (2003). Spoke at the World’s
Parliament of Religions in l993. Traveled to India and Tibet on the 6th
Spiritual Exchange Program in l995, and has been in formal dialogue with
individuals from Hindu, Zen Buddhist, Islam, Confucius, Taoist traditions.
Coordinated with Editor, James Wiseman, OSB to publish The MID Bulletin twice a
year. Coordinated with Martin Rowe of Booklight, Inc. to create organization
website (www.monasticdialog.com)
and make 25 years of publications (73 issues) available via the Internet.

Completed 15 years with Monastic Interreligious Dialogue Board of North America.
Published Thoughts Matter (Continuum, 1998), an updating of the teaching
of the fourth century desert father, John Cassian, on the eight “afflictive
thoughts” that impede spiritual life. A second book, Tools Matter
(Continuum, 2001), is on both ancient and modern practices that help us with our
“afflictive thoughts” and help us to lift up our thoughts in prayer. Her latest
book, Humility Matters (Continuum, 2005), is on the teaching on humility
of St. Benedict.
Published Islam Is…: An Experience of Dialogue and Devotion (Lantern
Books, 2003), the fruit of her reflection on Islam, a religion that has
challenged and transformed her and in which she has found startling similarities
to her own deeply held Catholic practice and beliefs. A participant from 1996
-2006 to committee that wrote and published Revelation Catholic & Muslim
Perspective (USCCB Publication No.5-630. 2006.
Contributed to Benedict’s Dharma (Riverhead, 2001) and Purity of Heart
(Continuum, 2001). Contributed to Transforming Suffering (Doubleday, 2003), the
proceedings of Gethsemani Encounter II. A Monastic Vision for the 21st Century
edt. Patrick Hart (Cistercian Publications, 2006).
Speaker at the Gethsemani Encounter (1996) and Gethsemani Encounter II (2002).
She has given many retreats to monastics and lay ministers on Christian Practice.
Speaks from time to time at St. John’s Collegeville Monastic Institute and Los
Angeles Religious Education Congress. Served on Thomas Keating’s Contemplative
Outreach Board of Trustees, Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge.
Member of the Board of Overseers of St. Meinrad School of Theology, St. Meinard,
Indiana.

Currently Meg directs the on-going School of Lectio Divina at Benedict Inn Beech
Grove, a week-long personal doing of Lectio Divina through Scripture, Nature and
Experience with Carol Falkner, OSB and a Benedictine staff of nuns.
2003-7 assignment includes being a consultant to Abbess of Kylemore Benedictine
Nuns, IRELAND.
Holds graduate degrees from Catholic University (1973) and Indiana University
(1979). Graduate of Epiphany Certification Program of Formative Spirituality
(2002).
